A New Jersey man, going by the name Harry Krame has been in news ever since he made a startling discovery in the basement of his house.
Fair Lawn resident Harry Krame has returned a book to thelibrary after 53 years of the date of borrowing. When asked about the missing book he says he checked out “The Family Book Of Verse” by Lewis Gannet from his school library while he was studying at the school but never returned it. He was 13 then and Lyndon Johnson was the president president. Now 65-year-old Krame found the book recently while cleaning out his basement and felt guilty about keeping it overdue for all those years and decided to return it to the true owner.
Memorial Middle School Vice Principal Dominick Tarquinio says a late fee at today’s rate would be about $2,000 but says the district will let it slide, sighting the extraordinary situation we are in. The school now plans to exhibit the book for other students and visitors.
School librarian Susan Murray says she plans to use the book for a display to teach students about returning books and hopefully leave a good impact on young minds.
