India will arrive in Bangladesh for three ODIs and two Tests on December 1. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the tour schedule on Thursday, with Dhaka being host to three ODIs and one Test, while Chattogram will host a lone Test.
The tour begins with the ODI series that will be played on December 4, 7 and 10 in Dhaka. The touring party will then move to Chattogram to play the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium from December 14 to 18, after which the Test series will conclude in Dhaka to be played between December 22 and 26. India are set to depart Bangladesh on December 27.
BCB president Nazmul Hassan said that he was expecting tight matches between the two sides come December.
“The Bangladesh-India matches in recent history have given us some epic contests and fans from both countries are eagerly waiting for another memorable series,” Hassan said. “I thank the Board of Control for Cricket in India for working closely with the BCB in confirming the schedule. We look forward to welcoming the Indian team to Bangladesh.”
BCCI secretary Jay Shah acknowledged that the contest between India and Bangladesh have become quite close in recent years. “I extend my best wishes to the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the upcoming bilateral series featuring India,” he said. “The India-Bangladesh contests generate tremendous interest among the fans thanks to the massive fan following the two teams enjoy.
“We know how passionate the fans in Bangladesh are and I am sure they will be treated to some exhilarating contests both in white-ball and red-ball cricket. With the crucial World Test Championship points at stake, the two Test matches are very important and both teams will go hard for the win,” said Shah.
